The Little Giants from the coach’s POV – 1

The Little Giants show is being made very professionally and with a big attention to detail when it comes to viewer’s emotions but you have no chance, sitting in front of your TV every saturday to experience all the things we do as a team. Hence this mini series written on the fly by Your Favorite Team’s coach, „Klika Rubika”, so you can get to know the show from the inside, to know all the things the TV will not show because they can’t. It’s in my head:)
We’re now after the episode 4. This was a very important and stressful episode because we knew one of the teams will leave the show and we very much didn’t want to be the one.
So we had a simple plan:
1. To give a very good performance
2. To stay in the show
Easy to say, isn’t it? 🙂
I am very lucky I gathered an extremely talented and strong team but even the best can loose when it comes to repertoire choice and stress.
Let’s start with Olivia (vocal). When I got to know that she’ll sing Sia’s song „You’re never fully dressed without a smile” I became really nervous. I thought this song was completely unknown in Poland. They told me it’s not like that. I like Sia quite a lot but rather her previous album. The newest one I like less, much less. And this song I simply didn’t know. But I trusted that it’s known and listened to it. So very difficult! A lot of jumping on intervals, a lot od syncopations, this ain’t easy song! I had mixed feeling while going to the rehearsal but when Olivia sang this to me for the first time I knew it’s gonna be ok! This girl, despite being so young can sing anything! With proper feeling, in tune, easily. And with big optimism. Yes, I had believed that we won’t be thrown out. During the show, after these few rehearsals Olivia didn’t fail and she’s got a big round of applause and a lot of points for the team.
In this episode I wasn’t very worried about Nina and Adam (dancers). They got a hit song, very romantic and danced fabulously. They showed themselves from the different side, instead of hiphop it was jazz, everything beautiful, ethereally and romantic. This song suited them well. I knew during the rehearsals that it’s gonna be ok. Lot of points. Yes!
Then it was Kinga and Stas’ turn (our smallest kids). It’s a very difficult task to find repertoire for them so it’s not too hard but still interesting for the spectators. They sang „Wavin’ Flag”. Stas did a good job with his English and rhytm. In this song every verse starts after „one” in a bar and it might be difficult. And he did a lot of mistakes during the rehearsals. Fortunately during the show he got into the groove very well and I was relieved. At first they both were supposed to hold the flags in their hands but eventually we changed our minds and decided that we’ll give Kinga the pompoms. Thanks to that she had more movement possibilities and suddenly everything became a bit humorous so I was very glad. You all know we are very optimistic team:)
In this episode we performed first. After counting the points I knew it’ll be ok, 28 points was enough to stay in the programme.
And at the end – the icing on the cake – Kinga and Stas got themselves going and received for us additional point! „Klika Rubika” on the first place! What a thrill! To be continued…
