Eurovision 2015 – preserving tradition

I just listened to the song that will represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest this year. Well, the song is nice, quiet, definitely not a hit, just apropriate for today’s needs of formatted radio stations so the easygoing listener is not bothered to much by music which could make him suddenly awakened in the morning while driving the car and make him think too much. I will not criticize the song more, because Monica (the singer) is very likable person and sings nicely (although with a terrible accent, but it is acceptable for the Eurovision Song Contest). Unfortunately, in my opinion, this song has no chance of either being noticed or to fight for the final. The wrong way to go… Interesting thing is that despite so many years passed since the undoubted success of Edyta Gorniak at this festival Polish TV still does not want to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
Yes! DOES NOT WANT! To succeed you must first want to win. I’ve heard gossip that before each edition of the festival each country has to declare the will to win, that in case of victory will organize the next event. If there is no such declaration then no matter who or what will sing will fail. Maybe there is some truth in this, because the organization of the festival costs a lot of money which you have to spend and the farmer must find a wife (there is a show in Polish TV where they look for wife for the farmer. Really. And it’s not cheap)…
There are many fans of Eurovision Song Contest in Poland and they would be very happy if we could win. All of Poland probably would enjoy the win, because every international success makes people happy.
First, however, the people responsible need to realize that this is not the festival of artistic nuances. This is the event you need to know the WAY to win! Have strategy, an idea. And then you can add a song, but definitely it must be a hit, universal, understandable for most Europeans. You have to make sure the performer is well known and liked in most countries. Because we all know that people vote first for their own (speaking the same language, ethnically homogenous), and then for those they know.
If the football team plays bad the coach is trying to change tactics, squad, etc. Thinks. As for the Eurovision Song Contest nothing has changed in Poland for years. Keeping the football analogy maybe one should change the coach?

UPDATE – As one of the readers correctly mentioned Ukraine eventually does not take part in this year’s edition. Updated:)
