“And the winner of the first Polish edition of Little Giants is Piotr Rubik’s team!”. When I heard these words spoken by Kuba Wojewódzki I was filled with euphoria. So many weeks of hard work, training, nerves…. I was so proud of my kids!
It was a very interesting episode, completely different from the others. First of all, they reset all scores. The advantage which we had been building from the first episode of the show vanished into thin air.
It started with joint performances with “stars” … The first was Olivia, who along with Margaret performed her new song. Unfortunately, I hadn’t known this song earlier, but most importantly, the girls came out phenomenally. It was a fun, energetic, and visually attractive performance. Once again, Olivia proved that singing comes to her with such ease as if she was born on a stage. It was an excellent performance and she received 10 points from each judge.
The next were our dancers performing in a trio with Karol Niecikowski. It was a witty, really synchronized show with a great dose of energy. I like such performances! I was super happy, because in every minute everyone could see that I have the best team. Again 10 points! I started to already suspect that every performance would get maximum number of points and everything would be decided later in the program during duels, when only one team would be able to get a point.
After Nina and Adam’s performance, the stage belonged to my youngest participants, Kinga and Staś. This time they recited the poem “Dyzio Marzyciel” while playing their favorite trick- I mean the poem was told in the supine position. Everything came out sweet and wonderfully, again 10 points and this was the way my team finished the first part of the show.
After us there was time for performances of Aneta’s team Czaderki, which also got the full number of points, and eventually they drew 30:30.
The second part of the final was getting more and more exciting … This time there was no compromise, performances could get either 0 or 1 point. This meant war… Oh yes. Both performers and audience were full of emotions. We, trainers sitting behind the scenes, were biting our lips and keeping our fingers crossed.
The first were singers with a duet song “Shake it off”. Both girls are really excellent. I have a lot of respect for Alicja, I like her singing, but I have no doubt – Olivia is simply better. In every single song… She sparkled, shone like a big star and did not give any chance to her opponent. Done! 1 precious point for us!
Then there was a “battle” between dancers. Nina and Adam were dancing really great, full sync, a lot of energy…. simply awesome. Angele as usual danced beautifully, but it seems to me that in this episode Nina and Adam were better. Eventually, the point was given to Angele. Perhaps it was fair … but I’m always for my kids 🙂
The next round after performances was a quiz, and that was a very immeasurable competition. For the purpose of the programme the quiz was pretty much reduced in editing, but the recording of it lasted a very long time. Contestants were tired and overexcited. Kinga and Staś fell out more than once. My heart was in my mouth and I was looking forward to the end of this terribly stressful situation. It was really difficult… After quarrels with Staś, Kinga left her place probably about five times. Fortunately, we managed to record a lot of nice and meaningful answers, the camera captured the kids’ charm, and the good energy between us and the audience. Everyone supported and cheered on the participants. Everyone understood how great emotions were churning in these young performers. This quiz was a very immeasurable competition. But luckily there was a happy ending Fortunately, this time my team was lucky and Kinga and Staś won a point!
Then came the moment I had been waiting for with a great joy, but also with a big concern. The duel between trainers. When I learned that I have to sing “Pszczółka Maja” I was a little scared, but also glad. Such a big hit! Wow! I also knew that I needed to find some special trick for this song. I am not a singer, I can’t even dream to be compared with Zbigniew Wodecki, therefore, I had to think of a ruse. So I came up with something… What I made up you could see on TV, and anyone who hasn’t seen it yet should check it on the internet 🙂
It took me some time to plan my performance… At first I worked on an overview, and then I added the details. When my concept was roughly ready I asked for a proper musical arrangement of the song. The band hit the bull’s eye and they read my intentions perfectly. Then I started practising and also I turned to Roofi for help in creating some “choreography”. But I knew that it should be simple, to not forget anything during the show. All in all, I roughly invented it myself, Roofi gave me some hints, and in this way I created my immortal show 🙂
From the reaction of viewers and internet users I can see that they enjoyed it, and that makes me very happy! I was proud that I won a point for my team. I’m glad that my effort was rewarded and I didn’t disappoint my wonderful kids. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t manage to learn to do tackle on my knees … 😉 I had a blast! The TV didn’t show the beginning – I entered the stage focused, hands out in front of me. When I came to a microphone stand Aneta ran up to me and poured some hair gel that I rubbed solemnly in my hair and started the show. The rest you’ve already seen. The second half of the evening ended with a two-point advantage for Rubik’s team!
And finally…. It’s time for the finale, the crème de la crème of the whole programme – performances of the whole teams, when the youngest announced, a singer sang, and the dancers danced in one performance. If I had any doubts as to whether we deserve to win, that Michael Jackson song performance absolutely dispelled them! What a commitment! Olivia sang as if she wanted to snatch victory with her throat, the dancers danced to 200%. By the way, it turned out that Olivia is a great dancer! I was very proud of them. I will be always proud that I managed to create such a TEAM! Supergroup! After both performances they called us to the stage and we’re waiting for the most important words of the evening – the verdict. At first we were a little afraid when Aneta’s team, Czaderki got 2 points and drew. Somewhere in my mind I explained to myself that it was intended to build up the tension and emotions before the end … but let’s put all these digressions aside, it does not matter at this time, because then there was the moment which we desired. Kuba said the sentence, which I quoted at the beginning of this post and we flew away into space. We won!!! And I, as a trainer, can confidently say that our team did deserve it. My team was the best and I am very proud of them!
These were my spontaneous thoughts about the final episode of Little Giants. In a few days I will post a little summary of my observations on the program. I will also reveal what I intend to do in the future with my Little Giants, because the victory last Saturday is not the end. This is the beginning. But now let’s enjoy and let’s play! Everyone knows that Rubik’s Team is the best!
